May Meeting

The speaker at the May 2016 meeting was Dr David Stephens, from Honest History Inc. see http://honesthistory.net.au/wp/
Anzac and Anzackery was the topic. The extreme rhetoric about Anzac began during Bob Hawke’s period and manifests in excessive expenditure such as the Sir John Monash Interpretive Centre at Villers Bretonneux, costing in excess of $100M. His donation is directed to Soldier On, a better way, in David’s view, to spend commemoration money. Soldier On supports those who have served by focusing on their physical and mental health, their community and their future. They have assisted thousands as they have dealt with physical and psychological wounds from their service.

  1. Are you chasing up increasing the tax free component of 10% for defined benefit pensions. Should be 30% or more. Nothing about it in election comment. Costing us lots.

    1. At the July meeting this matter was discussed again. A motion was debated and passed re asking all the relevant political parties to revisit this decision.
