Retired Teachers Association of the NSW Teachers Federation: Ken Update

The New South Wales Teachers Federation is a branch of the Australian Education Union and is known as "The New South Wales Teachers Federation"

The Retired Teachers Association has over 6,000 members and meets monthly at Federation House, usually with a

guest speaker.

The Committee meets at 11.00 a.m. A light Lunch is provided at 12.00 p.m. (all welcome)

Visiting Speaker at 12.45 p.m. followed by the General Meeting at 2.00 p.m. We generally conclude by 3.30pm.

In 2023 the dates will be - 10th February, 10th March, 14th April, 12th May, 9th June, 14th July, 11th August, 8th September, 13th October, 10th November and 8th December

SPECIAL NOTE to new (and not so new) retired teachers.

You are very welcome to come to our meetings, social events and luncheons. Bring a partner or friend with you if you wish.

You do not need to be a member.

If are are a current or very recent member of the Teachers Federation you are encouraged to transfer your membership to the Retired Teachers Association (RTA) and retain some benefits.

Due to complex industrial laws, non members of the Teachers Federation cannot automatically join the RTA. An application to join (either online or by paper form) will be forwarded to the General Secretary who has the authority to grant membership.

Social Events. Each month there is also a social outing with details on this BLOG and a luncheon. The luncheon is noon on the WEDNESDAY after the meeting at the Bowlers Club, 99 on York. Not far from the York St exit from The Queen Victoria Building.

Ken Update

Ken died in Perth. The family have been in contact with an invitation to a memorial service.

As you will know Ken passed away last week.

In this C-19 economy services to celebrate one’s life are different.

I just couldn’t let the current restrictions stop us from being able to join together, albeit from afar for one final goodbye.

Accordingly I have arranged to livestream a service that celebrates dad’s life.

In Perth we are allowed a small gathering. Dad was not big on chapels so I am holding the service at my farm in the Swan Valley. The service will start at 1.45pm (Perth) 3.45pm (Sydney).

For anyone who lives outside of Perth or Sydney - you will have to work out the local time.

Please join us to celebrate dad’s life.
