Welcome to the RTA September 2020

Your Retired Teachers Association had a second committee meeting on Wednesday 16th September by Zoom to plan our future.
The NSW Teachers Federation have not given us feedback at this stage as to our access to meeting rooms nor an emailed newsletter to our members.

At the previous ZOOM meeting, the committee decided that any physical meeting would be outside for the time being.
The next PHYSICAL meeting will be OUTSIDE on Friday 25th September at 10.00am in Parramatta Park. NOT near Old Government House as previously mentioned but near the Westmead entrance.
If coming by train, it is a short walk along Railway Parade to the 24hr pedestrian entrance. Nearby on your left you will see the West Domain “Cattle Paddock” with the Domain Creek Playground with two shelter pavilions and a toilet block between them. We will be meet there.
If coming by car, enter from Parramatta at the Macquarie St Gatehouse entrance and drive clockwise on the one way road until you get to the area mentioned above. There is two hour free roadside parking nearby.
Please bring your own drink and food. Having your own picnic chair (and table) might also be an advantage.
For more information and wet weather arrangements please visit the BLOG or contact me Terry Jones on 0407481222 or retiredteachersassociation@gmail.com

We hope that the following meeting will be our AGM in November, probably Friday 13th.
The committee felt that for our future, that an AGM was an essential step. Nominations for positions and proposed motions would need to be put at the September meeting.

Thanks to Margaret De La Garde, in December we intend to continue our tradition of visiting St Stephens Uniting Church Sydney.
There will be a restricted performance by the Conservatorium High School students - soloists only- no choir - no woodwinds.
Details re food and date to come.

Traditions are important. Are you having your 80th birthday this year. If so, we would like to help you celebrate with a fruit cake supplied by your RTA. However you have to ask. Just get a message to our secretary (Kerry and Paul Regan) at email regan.clan@optusnet.com.au ) with your name, address, telephone and/or email and a little about your teaching career. Also, if you know somebody is this situation, please tell them of our tradition.

Paul Jennings, one of Australia's most loved children's authors, has written a memoir about writing and teaching and life and we would very much like to let as many retired teachers know about the book’s October release. A link to the book is here which will tell you a little more about this memorable memoir. https://www.allenandunwin.com/browse/books/other-books/Untwisted-The-Story-of-My-Life-Paul-Jennings-9781760525828
We are arranging a review copy so watch this space for an update.

Our treasurer has been keeping up with the finances.
We have no news on the 2020 State Super CPI increase.
