Has written to the Retired Teachers Association asking for help.

I’m a researcher from the UTS School of Design, and I’m currently undertaking an ARC funded research project called Makers, Manufacturers & Designers, about the challenges of local production in Australia from the mid-twentieth century to the present. I am currently looking for potential interviewees. https://jesseadamsstein.com/portfolio/australian-design-trades-and-manufacturing-connecting-histories/

More info about the interviews is here: https://jesseadamsstein.com/call-for-interview-participants/

The project partly focuses on the recent history of technical education, (both apprenticeships and design education), and I am wondering if there are some retired teachers among your cohort who have taught at TAFE and/or technical institutes, in manufacturing/trades or design-related areas?

Maybe some of them have a manufacturing apprenticeship background, and then shifted to TAFE teaching, perhaps? If anyone is keen to speak frankly (and at length) about what they feel has happened to vocational education in this country – here is an opportunity. ☺

Kind regards

Jesse
